For Julia Moreau life seems complicated. Emerging from a failed marriage and managing a lifetime of diabetes, she lives alone in her childhood home where she communicates with the spirit of her Great Aunt Lilia. But Julia doesn’t have a clue what complicated is until she is thrust into being the key chess piece in a match between two powerful men of extraordinary abilities on the wild hunt for a mystical creature hidden in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter. Will Julia lose her soul to the karma of a devastating past life or her heart to the love of a man driven by dark forces? What is clear is that whichever way she turns she is Treading on Borrowed Time.

Beyond

Nov 21, 2011 in What's New!, Poetry

Within the walls
within the silence
we’re sure we hear a whisper.
We’re sure there is a tapping
an echo of what was before.
Beyond the quiet
beyond the certainty
we’re sure something stirs,
something undefinable
that eludes what we allow ourselves to entertain.
Beyond the nightfall
the dusky shadows
that envelop all that is understood,
we’re sure there is a whisper,
an echo, a footfall
something that is not believed.

For Julia Moreau life seems complicated. Emerging from a failed marriage and managing a lifetime of diabetes, she lives alone in her childhood home once occupied by her now deceased parents where she communicates with her late Great Aunt Lilia. And on top of all of that she is wrestling with her fledgling psychic powers.

But Julia didn’t have a clue what complicated was until she was thrust into being the key chess piece in a match between two powerful men of extraordinary abilities on the wild hunt for a mystical creature hidden in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter.

In the midst of this grand chase will Julia lose her soul to the karma of a devastating past life or her heart to the love of a man driven by dark forces? What is clear is that whichever way she turns she is Treading on Borrowed Time.
