Stillness

Jul 21, 2011 in Poetry

What an interesting turn
that life leads us round,
a bend in the road
unforeseen.
I stop out of breath,
in contemplation
from every angle
perplexed, dismayed, confounded.
It seems so unfair,
so purposeless, random.
And then I sit and allow my mind to weave round the impediment
from every angle.
What is its secret,
what is its purpose,
how can I find the hidden key
so buried in the hysteria?
I breathe deep,
instead of shallow.
I listen calmly,
instead of ranting wildly.
I wait,
instead of rushing forward
until a solution appears –
not forced but organic,
not imposed but grown
in the stillness of the moment.

Tapestry

Jul 12, 2011 in Poetry

Threads that twine
that draw us together
that weave lives
enmeshed in ways that are hidden.
We’re so certain that we’re separate,
a universe unto ourselves
but just a tug
just a pull and we can see
this great tapestry.
All of our lives
linking and touching
in unexpected ways.
