The sky is purple,
and the air is turbulent.
and the crack of change is thundering all about.
No one can tell what tomorrow will bring
or even the very next moment
for that matter.
But somehow, somewhere,
there is peace in knowing
a calm shore awaits if only within.

At times I fight what is,
thrash and claw and wish things were different.
More than sure there are easier choices,
choices that might lead me in a different direction.
At times I struggle against what I know is my road,
then I stop and breathe deeply knowing it isn’t in me to be anyone else.
So I lay down my resistance and chart my course forward,
toward whatever it might bring.

What choice do I make,
when I turn away?
When I heed a different call.
Is it better to cling
or just let things gently float away
as the currents of life sweep us along.
I’m not so sure why it is,
that paths cross and touch,
sometimes just briefly.
And then what was needed is done,
and even as quickly,
lives bend toward a different light.
Is it a loss?
Or just the natural course of evolution?
When do we grip tight and hold on
and when do we recognize
with clearness of vision
that time to let go?
