It’s hard to understand when things finally change
when there is a breath taken
a pause in the clamor that had become the norm.
It’s difficult to understand
when initially there is quiet
when one has been so used to the swirl and the noise.
It feels unstable at first,
unnatural perhaps
when peace finally comes to still
the turbulence.
Quite unexpectedly
the change is initially unwelcome.
We long for the familiar
but in time
with long steady breaths
the quiet might have a chance to heal
what had been before.
